What it does

One click on a job page. Everything else happens for you.

01

Auto-logs every application

The moment you hit Apply or Submit on a supported site, the company, title, location, and salary get written to a row in your own Google Sheet — no copy-pasting.

02

On-page status badge

A small badge appears on every job posting you've seen before, showing its exact status — Skipped, Bookmarked, Not Applied, Applied, Interviewing, Rejected, or Offer — so duplicate postings never fool you again.

03

Auto-fills application forms

Save your answers once and the extension fills in repeat fields — name, experience, work authorization — on future applications across supported ATS forms.

04

Gmail auto-status updates

Optionally connect Gmail and a script running under your own Google account watches for rejection, interview, and offer emails, then updates your sheet's Status column, logs a link to the email, stamps the date, and tallies interview count — all automatically.

05

Your data, your sheet

Nothing is stored on a server you don't control. Your application data lives in a spreadsheet in your own Google Drive, editable and exportable any time.

06

Toolbar + on-page, in sync

Check your count and open the sheet from the toolbar icon, or right from the badge on the page you're looking at — both always show the same status.

How it works

From job posting to spreadsheet row, in one click.

1

Install and sign in with Google

Takes a few seconds. A new spreadsheet is created in your own Drive the first time you log an application — you keep full ownership of it.

2

Browse and apply as usual

Go job-hunting the way you already do. When you click Apply on a supported site, the posting's details are captured automatically.

3

Track status without lifting a finger

The badge shows you what's applied and what isn't. Turn on Gmail auto-status and rejections, interviews, and offers update themselves.

FAQ

Questions people ask before installing.

What is Job Application Tracker Google Sheets?

It is a browser extension for Chrome, Firefox and Microsoft Edge that automatically logs every job application you submit to a Google Sheet in your own Google Drive. It also shows a status badge (Bookmarked, Applied, Interviewing, and more, not just Applied / Not Applied) on job postings, can auto-fill application forms, and can optionally read your Gmail to keep the Status column current on its own.

Is it a Google Sheets template?

You get one, and it fills itself in. The first time you log an application the extension creates a tracker spreadsheet in your own Google Drive with the columns already set up: company, job title, location, salary, link, date applied and status. From then on the template maintains itself — every Apply or Submit on a supported site writes a new row for you, the Applied badge keeps the sheet and the job board in sync, and if you connect Gmail the Status column updates itself from rejection, interview and offer emails. So it is a Google Sheets tracker template, minus the part where you type every application into it by hand.

How does it track a job application?

When you hit Apply or Submit on a supported site, the extension records the posting's details in a new row of your Google Sheet, so there is no copy-pasting. If you applied through LinkedIn's own 'Apply' hand-off to the employer's real application form, it also matches the two up by company and job title and merges them into one row instead of logging a duplicate. You keep browsing and applying the way you already do.

Which job sites and applicant tracking systems does it support?

It has dedicated support for over 37 platforms, including Workday, Greenhouse, Lever, iCIMS, Taleo, SmartRecruiters, Ashby, Phenom, SuccessFactors and LinkedIn. For career sites outside those platforms, a generic fallback still logs the basics so nothing you apply to goes untracked.

Does it auto-fill application forms without AI?

Yes, and that is a deliberate safety choice. AI auto-fill tools generate answers on the fly, so they can write things that do not match your CV, and applicants have reported cool-down periods, locked accounts and even bans when an employer or ATS flags that kind of generated, bot-like activity. This extension never generates anything. You save your answers once — name, experience, work authorization — and it writes those exact saved values back into the matching fields on supported ATS forms, including hard ones like Workday and Phenom. No model, no guessing, no hallucinated answers: only the information you provided yourself.

How does the Applied badge stop me from applying twice?

A small badge appears on every job posting you have seen before and shows its exact status \u2014 Skipped, Bookmarked, Not Applied, Applied, Interviewing, Rejected or Offer \u2014 so duplicate postings do not catch you out. The toolbar icon uses the same seven statuses, drawn as a distinct icon each, so it always matches what the on-page badge shows.

How does Gmail auto-status work?

It is optional. If you connect Gmail, a script running under your own Google account watches for rejection, interview and offer emails, updates the Status column, stamps Date Modified, adds a direct link to the email in Last Status Email, and increments the Interviews count for that row \u2014 all automatically.

Where is my application data stored?

In a spreadsheet in your own Google Drive. It is not stored on a server you don't control, and you can edit or export it at any time.

Which browsers does it work in?

Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Edge. You can install it from the Chrome Web Store, Firefox Add-ons or the Microsoft Edge Add-ons site.
